Have been meaning to plug this site for AGES.

I like this

It's the lgbt's website, and it's the coolest fucking one for any society at sussex.
Nathan (creator) rocks.
Certain people think it's too camp, but they suck anyway.
It is currently being updated, so is not the best source of info, but that's not why I'm linking it- I recommend you go to the flash version, with sound, and definitely check out the fantastic cartoons (under interactive)

Go!
the essay is _mostly_ done... kinda...
Much thanks to housemates for shouting at me to work, and the lovely shroom for cooking me pie and chips and making copious amounts of tea... mmmm...

Can't concentrate down here so taking laptop to bed to finish off...

Have just scared (possibly) poor innocent boy on msn... Sorry about that, I was only doing what I was told, honest!

Night all.

meh.

I feel shitty.
actually, I feel pre-menstrual. which is weird, 'cos there is no way in hell that I am. I'm also acting it.

There's too much stress floating around tho. I have no fucking idea how it got to this stage, all I know is that it's irritating as hell. (people don't talk anymore)

I also feel bad 'cos Odile's here and frankly, I'm being a crap host. I have no money and no food, I'm never here because I have work to do, and our sleeping patterns pretty much clash, so Arwen's feeding her and she's been shopping with Jules and arwen... I wanna spend more time with her, but... meh.

On a positive note, went with neil to the agency today and got him moving into the house sorted. Also went to the job centre, but nothing concrete yet.

Must write essay.

Meh.
(complete lack of feeling)
..hence the meaningless updates. I WILL do it though. It's just that it's so boring. I didn't even realise it was due in this week until the lecturer reminded us this morning, which I suppose means it was a good thing I dragged myself out of bed so early to go to the lecture... No grade is worse than a low grade. I just have to remember that when my own peculiar brand of perfectionism strikes with its indefeatable, "if I can't do it well, there's no point doing it at all," logic.

there is definitely an air of.. hmm, not sure if 'restlessness' is quite right, perhaps change, around at the moment. Alex is going to america for a while. Kate's leaving us for 6 whole months to go to NZ (I will miss you like crazy babe, but am sure it'll be fantastic), Odile is here right now and is currently out scouring brighton for a job (yay!), and I've even heard from steve, who seems to be re-relocating to brighton (again...). Ellie moves out at the end of the month and Neil moves in... This all makes life very interesting (must be a spring thing), but...
I feel a bit restless, and it's all too easy to take it out on the boy. Someone needs to repeatedly remind me that I am not less interesting just because I'm in a couple, I still have as much freedom as ever, and 4 months isn't really that long damnit!

Ok, work has to be more constructive than this. I'm off.

microwave

Feb. 9th, 2004 04:27 pm
I received a text message from a friend last night that said,

"I can now tell you with some certainty that in order to boil someone alive in a microwave would take about 7 hours and fifteen minutes. Have a nice day"

Just in case, you know, you were wondering.
ok, following on from the last post, I have decided to hold a limerick contest. (This is in no way me trying to get free amusement from people. Oh no.)

So either give me a whole limerick, or the first line or so and let other people finish it off.

Go!
so, I think I may have managed to convey that I got very drunk last night...

After my seminars yesterday I met up with Neil and we finalised the wording of an equal opportunities motion we're submitting at the ugm - sadly necessary due to certain people wanting to scrap the old one and claiming it's no longer relevant. Cunts.
Anyway, that was done and it was off to the unisex pub quiz for a few hours of drunken questions about sex. We wanted a special prize when we realised that our team was truly lgbt as we had one of each, but we didn't get one :( Embarrassingly, we didn't even win. My sex and drug knowledge is frankly not up to scratch. We even only came second in the limerick round, despite having the best one (I think). We were given the first line and had to supply the other four:

There once was a student from sussex
Woke up with a cock up their buttocks
They said, "what a shock,
To find such a big cock,
But I'd rather it was hitting my cervix"

hahahah thankyou!

The night also involved being blindfolded and licking condoms to guess the flavour, and getting a goody bag of sweets, condoms and penis measurers. Good fun all round.

We all piled onto the bus to head into town. I was meeting Rob, Kate etc to go to the pav tav, but everyone else was going to the joint to go to dynamite boogaloo's birthday bash. I was a bit disappointed to be missing out on that (and attendant gossip) but didn't mind too much..

Met up with Rob and we went into the pav tav to meet up with kate and people... it was empty inside so we got a couple of drinks... I was already bolloxed by this point, much to Rob's amusement. Nic turned up and told us that they couldn't get in (see Kate's journal for details) so off we all went to the joint... Had to wait for AGES to get in, and were then put into upstairs part for another ages, but we were finally allowed into the club, where there was much dancing and cabaret and games and amusement...
I certainly had fun.
and I'm _fairly_ sure all I really did was flirt with a certain someone... tho maybe I stole a kiss. Not sure. all perfectly innocent anyway.

It's all a bit of a blur really, but I enjoyed it all immensely. Pretty sure everyone else did too...

No idea how I got home... but I did. where I apparently demanded food, threatened to hit Jules because she said something bad about placebo, and then passed out.

A great night.

drunk?!

Bah.
To say thankyou for all the lovely get well messages I received. You're all lovely :)
I am still all coughy and achey but have dragged my arse into uni because that's just the kind of dedicated student I am.

Further proving the student point, I'm slightly drunk. This is Neil's fault. We met up for lunch and he insisted we went to the bar. Maybe it will make life more interesting though. It certainly makes my throat hurt less.
I'm going to whine first:
My throat's about half the size it should be, I keep coughing, I'm achey and generally feel like shit. Blergh.
Luckily, my housemates got the brunt of this moaning last night:
"When you have 'flu you're supposed to keep your fluids up but I can't do that because it's just taken me an _hour_ to drink that lemsip because it hurts so much to swallow. Did I mention I hurt? ..."

Somehow, they managed not to kill me.

As an antidote to general ickiness, I am compiling a list of things which have made me smile / laugh while lying around moaning:

-Webcomics. Especially s*p, queen of wands, and new find (through live journal no less), Jake the Rake , which has had me and Arwen in fits of laughter, interspersed with the occasional 'wtf?!' or 'ah, my brain hurts,' for most of the morning.

-Cats. Furry hot water bottles.

-Eddie Izzard. Or 'god' as he is sometimes called by people I know. Neil lent me a load of videos. Mmmm.

-Getting an email from a friend I haven't seen for way too long.

-Finding out Will Self is giving a reading in Hove tomorrow (this will backfire if there are no tickets left, although Jules and I figure we can still stalk him)

-
Oh yes.
If I have recently added you to my friend list it is quite likely to be because my big brother told me to :p
Had a good weekend in (near) oxford with my family which mainly consisted of drinking, watching films/ tv, drinking, and a few discussions on sex and drugs which al went pretty well.

Monday was spent avoiding the rain and getting pissed off wit the stupidity of parts of my degree, but that was compensated for by a long evening in my favourite irish bar, in the arms of my favourite man, drinking cheap guinness and talking on the most comfortable sofa in the world (maybe).

Today's been pretty productive in many ways...
Was in brighton for 10am and went to waterstones where I bought a copy of the rough guide to hugary. Went home, had breakfast and went into Hove with Juliette where I bought a gel-filled bra (for those nights when a C just isn't big enough...) and a beautiful pin-up girl t-shirt I'd been contemplating for a while. Went home again, changed, and back into brighton where I had some passport photos taken, and then met up with Rob.
We've done it! The flights are booked; we leave england on the 12th of march for 10 days in Hungary. I can't wait!

A lot of people have looked at me a bit strangely and said, "Hungary? But... why?" but I've wanted to visit since I did a school project on it when I was 10. The place fascinates me, and Budapest is supposed to be a beautiful city.
We found incredibly cheap flights and have booked accomodation for the first teo nights of our stay, so we have the freedom to move around and go where we want and will probably spend a day or two in the countryside. I'm very very excited about this!

I have also booked my motorcyling CBT today, so in a few months I'll be proficient in all things 2-wheeled, hopefully! My first lesson is on the 29th.
I would like to believe I'm not drunk...
But after a conversation about piercings I just flashed most of the lgbt boys (an a few grrls) my nipple piercings in the pub... At least they approved!

Mmmm start of term... fresh blood... meeting up with ppl again... dancing... Being offered free piercings by barman who is also piercer because we gt on unexpectdly...

I am dying neil's hair blue tomorrow, and in return he is gonna help me write a CV which people actually RESPOND to... As well as introducing me to even more killer cocktails... this is the boy who thinks a bottle of malibu mixed with a bottle of vodka is just aboutan adequaete 'warm up' drink... Remind me to blame him tmw! good start to term tho...

fresh meat!

Kate finally has a live journal.
Find her here [livejournal.com profile] choicelamb
:)
This is just my very lazy way of saying MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all at once (if you don't do xmas, just think of it like me electronically handing you some chocolate and a glass of sherry...)
Hope you're all well, or at least not too hungover, and making the most of this society-approved chance to get smashed and eat loads on a daily basis for 2 weeks!

I've had a good day, way better and much more relaxed than anticipated, and am feeling very positive and calm. All in all, it's been a good holiday so far, and I hope you all have some sense of that too... And if you don't, I hope it snows so you can build a snowman and then kick it to pieces. That's fun :)

Well I've been in belgium a week now without updating... It's pretty boring here. Not that I don't like it - I get wound up sometimes, and I miss my friends and boyfriend being able to walk to the shops/off licence/takeaway, but it's nice to see my family, and when I manage to shake off my cynicism, I still enjoy the whole xmas 'thing' - the lights and decorations and standing in the cold drinking gluhwein from plastic cups and skidding on ice :)
I've seen Odile, on friday night, and we spent the night drinking and talking, and I got to go to rock classics and be treated nicely because I was with a member of staff, which was a novel experience... That was a good night tho :) Then peter came over here on saturday night and we drank ourselves into the ground and reminisced and bitched and laughed and smoked... I'm lucky to have 2 such amazing best friends...

I just feel a little jaded right now, but I think it's a culmination of xmas-type stress and missing certain things...
boyfriend

hahahah.... Oh, the irony, etc.
Well it's good to know I don't NEED a boyfriend, but I think I have one, and he's lovely... *waits for the shockwaves to clear* Yup, I've decided, I'm keeping him.

You need a boyfriend like you need a hole in the head.

There’s been drama.

There have been words.

Breakable items have been thrown.

In short, men are trouble and you want no part of them for any reason.

Conventional wisdom says they’re from Mars...

And that actually is not quite far enough away as far as you’re concerned.

Send them all to Pluto!

And the chances of your changing your mind are slim to none.

But that’s okay. We need to hate certain things in life...

So we’ll appreciate the things we love all the more.

Do You *Need* a Boyfriend?
