Got back from 'the big B' on Thursday. went with Kate and Peter for a week.
Faaan-bloody-tastic *grins*
Left on thurs 29, for a day before that my calves had been killing me, felt like cramps, very stiff.. oww.
Got on the 'plane, uneventful journey, but as we were picking up our bags from the conveyor belt at barcelona peter jokingly kicked me on my right leg. I think he got a bit of a shock when I fell over and burst into tears, lol
I was hobbling for a couple of days after that, and it didn't help that our hostel was at the top of a steep hill about 10 mins walk from the metro station... On the first evening we'd been sitting on the port when we realised we only had a few minutes before the last metro left, so we had to rush to get it. Considering I could hardly walk up steps at that time, having to practically run up or down several flights left me in an unfeasible amount of pain... by the time we got back to the hostel I was at that stage where something is so painful you become delirious, which was interesting.
Cleared up tho, got some deep heat type stuff from the chemists in the morning (turns your legs bright red, good thing I was wearing trousers), and they felt much much better after we went swimming in the sea... yeh, we swam in the med! Lovely...
That was at the end of the second day - we went to the museum of erotic Art in the morning, then the Contemporary art museun... Erotic art left us all traumatised.. they had a Victorian porn film and it was disgusting *shudders* I'm not going into details... The contemporary art was bette, MASSIVE sound exhibition, whole room filled with Wired mags, sat and read Le Tigre interviews for a bit, heheh...
Barcelona is beautiful. That was the thing that got me the most. It's just the most incredibly aesthetically pleasing city I have EVER been to, and I love the fact that there's so much variety... we saw a LOT of it, went to Parc Guell, saw the gaudi buildings, went up Montjuic, the Joan Miro exhibition, went to the Picasso exhibition. I fell in love. I would live there, definitely.
We only actually went 'properly' out one night, to a gay club we'd heard about.
It was TERRIBLE. The music was 10 years dated school disco pop, the floor was sticky, the lighting was just a strobe, the drinks were expensive and there was a sex room... with broadcasts onto tvs in the club. Barcelona mayhave put me off porn for life. Or a few months anyway.
Everyone wanted to dance with me and kate tho. Maybe Spanish fag hags can't dance?
Peter was getting chatted up a lot (surprise), and ended up talking to John, quite cute, tall, dark, Bolivian pilot.. he bought us all lots of drinks, took us to a nearby cafe when the club shut... and then got very vocally angry when Peter refused to sleep with him, yelled at us all and stormed off.
The only other time we were planning to go out, I had my bag stolen, complete with driver's license, ID, Peter's phone, 55 euros (!!!) etc... I was really upset and there's nothing you can do. went to the police station and you sit around for 30 minutes, THEN get a 'tick-the-box' form to describe what happened, they photocopy it, give you a copy and you leave...
That meant we ran out of money because Peter reached his credit limit and Kate's card stopped working. still had a great time tho and I wanna go back...
Haven't even tried to describe the atmosphere because there's no point... It's like a relaxed version of camden with sea and sun... mmmm....
